BCOM Projects
In my Business Communication class, I worked on projects focused on developing professional writing, public speaking, and data tracking skills. Below are a few examples of the projects I completed during the course.

Email Writing Workshop
As part of a project, I reviewed a draft email from a supervisor and provided constructive feedback to improve its clarity, tone, and effectiveness. This included proofreading for grammar and professionalism, considering the needs of the intended audience, and maintaining an appropriate tone. I also created a fully revised version of the email to demonstrate how the message could be more effectively communicated in a business context.

Data Tracking
To better understand my personal impact on the environment, I started tracking the number of miles I drive each week using the Life360 app. This app provides accurate weekly mileage, which I used to calculate my car’s carbon dioxide emissions. I drive a 2011 Honda CR-Z, which averages about 37 miles per gallon. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, gasoline powered cars release approximately 20.86 lbs of carbon dioxide per gallon of fuel. By using this emissions factor along with my weekly mileage and fuel efficiency, I was able to estimate how much carbon dioxide I produce from driving each week.
To give my data more context, I compared the weekly carbon emissions from my Honda CR-Z to those of a 2025 Ford F-150 and a 2025 Toyota Camry. The Ford F-150 is a larger vehicle, so it produces significantly more emissions per mile than my car, while the Camry is newer and emits less than my 2011 CR-Z. This comparison helped me visualize the impact of vehicle choice on carbon emissions and encouraged me to think more critically about sustainable transportation. Tracking this data has made me more conscious of my environmental footprint and how small changes in driving habits or vehicle efficiency can make a difference over time.
Team Presentation
As part of a team project, I collaborated with peers to create a presentation on The Future of Professional Skills in an AI Dominant Workplace. Together, we explored how the rise of generative AI is reshaping the skills needed across different professions. My team and I divided responsibilities based on our strengths, allowing us to research both the growing importance of technical skills such as data literacy and AI oversight and the enduring value of soft skills like critical thinking, communication, and creativity. We met regularly to share findings, give feedback, and refine our message, ultimately producing a presentation that emphasized the need for a balanced and adaptable workforce. This experience taught me how to work collaboratively, manage complex research, and communicate emerging trends clearly and effectively.
Peer Feedback
While working on our projects, we had the opportunity to give feedback to our peers. Providing thoughtful and professional feedback is important because it helps others grow while strengthening our own communication and critical thinking skills. It also fosters a respectful and collaborative learning environment. Below are some examples of feedback I provided.
